Neuromodulators
Neuromodulators are injectible preparations of Botulinum Toxin. Commonly called “Botox”, this is actually one of several commercial preparations of Botulinum toxin. These are skillfully injected into precise layers of the skin to achieve their goal, usually to treat wrinkles, laugh lines, crows feet, and sagging causing the skin to gradually become smoother.
Other uses for neuromodulators are in treating excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), facial tics and spasms, and others.
What do I need to prepare?
(Can I book a session right away?)
A proper face-to-face consultation is always needed before any session to ensure safety and the best results. For this reason, we don’t allow “booking” of a botox without a consultation.
Before your consult, bring a list of all medications and supplements you take, because these can affect the results.
We may ask you not to take any blood thinners and alcohol days before the procedure. We advise against smoking as this affects healing.
Are there any side effects?
Common side effects are soreness and bruising for a few hours to days after the procedure
Uncommon side effects are headache lasting a few hours after the procedure
Rare side effects are an allergic reaction and muscle weakness or temporary drooping.
When do I see results and how long do they last?
Improvement of wrinkles can be seen as early as 5 days but the maximum effect is seen after 1-2 weeks.
Effects last from 3 months up to 6 months.
Post Treatment Advice
Avoid washing or scrubbing your face of the day after your treatment.
Avoid lying down flat for 4 to 6 hours after the procedure.
Avoid face massage or strenuous exercise the day of your procedure.
Be sure to save your follow up appointment (7 days, 14 days, 1 month, etc.)
